Build It and He Will Come

Psalm 127:1 - Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.

Jesus said, if He be lifted up, all men would be drawn to him. It is our goal to lift up Jesus. We’re not trying to show off a new building, we’re trying to show off what God has done.

2 Corinthians 4:5-7 - We don’t proclaim ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord. We are merely earthen vessels, just jars of clay.

Jesus chooses to place his light, his gospel, in these broken, flawed vessels. We would choose to put our valuables in a safe, but God chose to put it in us, imperfect as we are. This brand-new building we’re having church in is just an earthen vessel - made from elements of the earth. One day, God has promised us that the elements will burn in fervent heat and this church and our bodies will be gone.
